About the role
This is an exciting time to join the University of Sussex and play a key part in developing and leading the emerging Faculty Professional Service team in support of our university strategy Our strategy : Our community : Staff Hub : University of Sussex
We are looking to employ a Senior Education Manager to support Media, Arts and Humanities Faculty, to work closely with the Faculty Executive and School Management Teams, the Head of Faculty Operations, and colleagues in the Education & Students Division to support and deliver Faculty strategic objectives.
Driven by a continuous improvement mindset, the post-holder will work collaboratively with colleagues to build a multi-functional professional service team in support of a wide range of academic administrative activities which support education delivery.
As Faculty Education Manager, you will oversee and enhance education delivery ensuring alignment with academic regulations and policies.
This is a key senior level role acting at the interface between the faculty and centrally delivered services in our shared accountabilities for delivering education provision, projects and initiatives.
About you
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and experience needed to successfully lead and motivate a team of 20-30 people supporting education and students’ services. You will have experience in managing others, both directly and indirectly, and in influencing others to achieve common goals.
Candidates should have excellent interpersonal skills in both written and oral communications, with an ability to prepare plans and present these to different audiences, including the ability to convey complex information to audiences with varying concerns and levels of understanding.
You will have experience of managing projects and be able to demonstrate creativity, enthusiasm and excellent organisational skills. The ability to work effectively and flexibly under pressure will be essential.
It would be an advantage for the successful candidate to have substantial experience of working in an administrative support role in a busy university environment, with excellent knowledge of the student systems. Candidates should have demonstrable understanding of project dependencies and an understanding of the quality assurance processes that govern academic delivery.
The successful candidate will possess a proven ability to interact effectively, working in partnership with colleagues across the faculty and wider institution. You will operate in a collegial culture, command respect, and understand the nature of the academic discipline. You will have knowledge of the higher education sector, current issues, and regulations.
