QUANTITY SURVEYOR 

 

Job Title: Consultant Quantity Surveyor (Power & Utilities) 

Contract Type: Temporary Contract

Location: GL16 (Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire)

Duration: Temp

 

About the Role 

We are seeking an experienced Consultant Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in the power and utilities sector to support a range of commercial and procurement activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in tendering for electrical frameworks, developing rate cards, and supporting cost management activities for power infrastructure projects.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and support the commercial and tendering process for a new electrical framework, including preparation, review, and evaluation of tender documents
  • Develop, maintain, and analyse rate cards, pricing models, and cost databases to support accurate forecasting and procurement decisions.
  • Provide robust cost estimating, value engineering, and benchmarking across power and utilities projects.
  • Prepare and review bills of quantities, cost plans, and contract documentation in accordance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Conduct commercial risk assessments, advising the project team on potential impacts and mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to ensure alignment of commercial and technical requirements.
  • Provide ad-hoc commercial guidance to ensure compliance with frameworks, regulations, and internal controls.

 

Skills & Experience Required 

  • Proven experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the power, utilities, or energy infrastructure sector.
  • Demonstrable background in tendering for electric frameworks, including developing tender documentation and evaluating supplier submissions.
  • Strong experience in rate card creation, cost modelling, and data-driven commercial analysis.
  • Solid understanding of NEC, JCT, or similar contractual frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Professional qualifications such as RICS (or working toward) are advantageous but not essential.

Job Types: Temporary, Fixed term contract

Pay: £258.64-£506.89 per day
