Junior Finance Manager

The Role 

We are looking for a qualified or part-qualified accountant to join Cashroom and manage all firm side activities for a portfolio of clients. The role is focussed upon delivering regular and reliable management information, managing and leading a small team.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience, ideally working within the legal industry.

 

Tasks involved:

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts and other management information for clients, including maintenance of fully reconciled accounting schedules packs.
  • Providing Outsourced Financial Controller services to clients and presenting at board and partnership level meetings.
  • Preparation of cashflows, forecasts and budgets.
  • Preparation of VAT returns.
  • Working alongside a Cashroom Manager to support the management and development of the cashiering team including reviewing resource usage, providing internal analysis on team performance, and holding one to one’s and appraisals, in line with company policies.
  • Supervision of daily bookkeeping tasks including purchase ledger processing work and management of credit control procedures.
  • Review of accounts, budgets, cashflows and VAT returns prepared by other team members.
  • Internal review of client financial data and ensuring that it is supported by reports and reconciled on a regular basis.
  • Assisting with the development of accounting knowledge within the team and across the office.
  • Identifying improved working processes and procedures both within the organisation and within client organisations.

 

Essential Skills 

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (CA, ACA, CIMA, ACCA, ILFM Associate or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting environment
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Excellent communication and strong client relationship management skills
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient use of MS Excel for data analysis
  • Time management skills to ensure that service is delivered within agreed parameters.
  • Experience of working in a busy office environment
  • Experience of delivering process improvements

 

Desirable Skills 

The following are also desirable:

  • A good knowledge of the Solicitors’ Account Rules (Scotland, England and Wales)
  • Experience of working on legal firm accounts
  • Experience of working on multiple clients at the same time
  • Line management experience
