HDR are seeking an Electrical Engineer who enjoys working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams throughout the entire span of a project, from the initial concept development, through drawings/specifications, to report preparation and equipment sizing and selection, and finally meaningful engagement during the construction contract.

As an Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to assist the Group Leader with delivery of projects, with effective use of assisting engineers, maintaining technical quality, professionalism, completing all design activities to programme.

Primary Objectives 

Undertake electrical design tasks as projects designated by your supervisor for Data Centre projects. Carry out detailed design and calculations in accordance with industry guides. Assist and prepare specifications, reports and drawings to the design programme. Oversee project site works snagging and testing. Become an integral part of the design team, taking responsibility and ownership for elements of design production. Supporting the team’s common goal

In the role of Electrical Engineer we’ll count on you to:

  • Assist Senior Engineers with detailed design tasks and drawing production on data centre projects.
  • Carry out detailed design calculations and develop a full understanding of computer design packages.
  • Maintain a Continuing Professional Development diary to assist in obtaining appropriate qualifications.
  • Develop an understanding of appropriate Legislation Standards, Building Regulations, and Codes of Practice.
  • Learn and understand design techniques and develop awareness of other design disciplines.
  • Attend appropriate and relevant site visits and meetings as and where applicable to the role or the project.
  • Attend relevant training as required by the practice to achieve Chartered status.
  • Assist in maintaining QA systems on projects.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • BEng, MSc or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building services or relevant subject.
  • Working towards CEng status is desirable
  • Minimum 2yrs experience in electrical design for data centre projects.
  • Design Coordination with other stakeholders & disciplines
  • Wide experience of critical systems power engineering and multiples levels of resilience including earthing, HV and LV protection systems.
  • UPS and standby system experience
  • Able to establish rapport and good working relationships within the project team and Clients.
  • To be able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis
  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Strongcomputer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and EasyPower
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
