BUSINESS SUPPORT OFFICER

Our work matters to millions. It will matter to you too. Join our Ground Engineering team as a Business Support Officer on the Sizewell C project and you’ll be a big part of fascinating, complex, varied and meaningful work.

The role is based from our offices in Basingstoke, Hampshire. 

 

What you’ll be doing 

The successful candidate will have the following accountabilities in this role:

  • Recruitment Support 

Collaborate with the Resourcing Team and line managers to manage recruitment activities, including shortlisting, interviewing, and onboarding new staff, in line with
company procedures;

  • HR Compliance 

Ensure adherence to HR policies and legal requirements, including Right to Work checks, DBS/PVG screening, and government or police security clearances;

  • HR Data Management 

Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and systems;

  • HR Cycle Administration 

Provide administrative support across the full HR cycle, including onboarding, performance reviews, internal job moves, and employee exits;

  • Confidentiality & Data Protection 

Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism, ensuring compliance with data protection and privacy standards;

  • Policy Guidance 

Offer advice and support on HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application across the business;

  • Project & Improvement Support 

Contribute to projects and continuous improvement initiatives as required;

  • General Administration 

Carry out general administrative duties, including taking minutes during meetings;

  • Ad Hoc Support 

Assist with other administrative tasks as needed to support the wider business.

 

Who we’re looking for 

The successful candidate will have the following qualities and experience:

  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities;
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy;
  • Proficiency in HR administration and record-keeping;
  • Knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment law;
  • Experience with recruitment processes, including shortlisting and interviewing;
  • Understanding of compliance requirements such as Right to Work and DBS/PVG checks;
  • Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information;
  • Ability to provide policy advice and guidance to staff;
  • Project support and continuous improvement mindset;
  • Strong IT skills, including HR systems and Microsoft Office applications;
  • Flexibility to manage ad hoc tasks and competing priorities.
