The Role
The Department of English and Creative Writing is seeking to appoint an Associate Lecturer in English Literature and Creative Writing. The successful candidate will demonstrate a track-record of delivering engaging teaching in a university environment and will be able to make significant contributions to a dynamic and intellectually vibrant team. The successful candidate will contribute to the Department’s existing teaching portfolio within this field and will have a flexible approach with the ability to deliver a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate modules. The successful candidate will teach a diverse range of core and specialist option modules such as: WL11920 Speculative Fiction, EN20120 Literary Theory, EN22920 Literature since the ‘60s ENM3020 Research and Project Planning They will also be expected to contribute to the supervision of undergraduate dissertations and writing projects. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable with a wide range of creative and critical modes of assessment. This job description is subject to review and amendment in the light of the changing needs of the University, to provide appropriate development opportunities and/or the addition of any other reasonable duties.
The appointed candidate will be required to undertake such duties as shall be reasonably determined by the Head of School of Languages and Literature in light of the operational needs of the academic departments. They will work as part of a busy academic team in a vibrant learning and teaching environment. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will make a full contribution to the Department’s exceptional student experience and although this post is learning and teaching focused the successful candidate will benefit from being embedded in a community-focused research environment. In addition, the successful candidate will receive support and development opportunities appropriate to their career stage designed to foster their success across all areas of academic activity.
