SENIOR ENGINEER 

 

With an industry leading and award-winning engineering team of chartered engineers, geologists, geotechnical specialists and environmental scientists, we support projects from feasibility, through planning and on to successful completion.
Our Civil Engineering Team has a broad and diverse range of geotechnical, geo-environmental, and geological projects across all of SLR’s key sectors. We are looking for a civil engineer with experience in geotechnical design and supervision of geotechnical investigations to assist us on projects such as electrical transmission routes, energy infrastructure projects and a broader range of civil engineering developments. The position offered forms part of the continued expansion of the Leeds and northern engineering and environmental team due to a strong pipeline of exciting projects and comes with the opportunity for career progression.

 

The role
The successful candidate shall be responsible for delivering projects to a high standard, mentoring junior staff, and supporting innovation and continuous development of the team and output. This key role requires close collaboration with the senior members of the team and with technical specialists in other disciplines. Specific tasks include, but are not limited to:
Supporting our civil engineering team on geotechnical design and investigations;

  • Conduct Site Visits and act as a Site Engineer on either short or long duration projects with potential working away from home;
  • Provide geotechnical input such as specifying in-situ testing and sampling in accordance with UK specifications and current technical standards;
  • Liaise with clients, engineers, contractors and sub-contractors throughout the site work phase;
  • Assist in the preparation of contract documentation and administration of contracts (including financial control); and
  • Geotechnical assessment and interpretation.

 

About you

  • BEng in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or similar, MSc advantageous;
  • Soil/Rock logging to BS5930;
  • A civil engineer with geotechnical design and site supervision experience;
  • Knowledge of relevant UK contaminated land and relevant planning legislation and guidelines;
  • Experience of designing, supervising and managing geotechnical site investigations;
  • Experience of land contamination assessment – soil, water, ground gas and DQRA;
  • Experience in contributing to engineering remedial options appraisals, remedial designs, remedial specifications, and validation reports – commensurate with the role and experience;
  • Experience of preparing fee proposals for geotechnical and geo-environmental projects;
  • Excellent project management skills;
  • Chartered or working towards chartership through a professional institution; and
  • Full driving license.
