Make a Real Difference: Engineer a Sustainable Future at OX Delivers
Do you want a career that tackles global challenges? At OX Delivers, we’re empowering communities and driving positive change through improving access to transport.
We’re seeking passionate individuals to shape the future of transportation. This is your chance to develop groundbreaking technology with a direct impact on people’s lives.
More Than Just a Startup, We’re a Mission-Driven Force
Empower Communities. Drive Change. Join OX Delivers!
We’re not your average tech startup. We’re targeting the 3 billion people in the Global South who lack access to reliable transportation, hindering their economic opportunities. Our innovative electric OX trucks are changing the game.
Building a Brighter Future, One Sustainable Delivery at a Time
The lack of transport infrastructure leads to food spoilage and limited economic growth for farmers and entrepreneurs across the Global South. OX Delivers is building a self-reinforcing cycle of economic empowerment and social impact, starting with markets across Africa.
The Heart of Our Mission: Technology with Impact
The heart of what we do is technology: the OX truck and the supporting digital ecosystem. The OX truck is the world’s first electric truck purpose-built for dirt roads which enables profitable logistics. Its simple design is focussed on total lifetime costs, in-market repairability and serviceability, and for manufacture in local markets.
Are you ready to engineer a brighter future? Join the OX Delivers team!
What you can expect from the role
We’re looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our team as we ramp up production of our trucks.
You’ll be responsible for the development, optimisation and execution of all manufacturing processes, working to improve quality, safety, cost and production efficiency.
You will be working in the Manufacturing Team, initially with Vehicle Assembly Team Leads, and also engaging with engineers in the various Truck Teams.
We have already produced four prototype trucks. You’ll work closely with our engineering teams to identify the optimal manufacturing solutions based on the learnings from these trucks. We will be rapidly ramping up to small scale production in 2025.
You’ll inherit some existing documentation by an external consultant with proposed line layout and headcount required, and also a system developed in-house for managing prototype builds. You’ll need to quickly get up to speed and identify the right work to prioritise and either update or replace the documentation.
You’ll be working to establish a solid foundation of documentation and processes to cover all manufacturing practices within OX. This will include the design and validation of truck production processes in the UK and moving towards assembly process in Africa.
You’ll help develop the design from prototype to small-scale production and beyond, ensuring backwards compatibility, efficiency in production and future maintainability.
As we build up our production this team will grow and there would be a career path opportunity to a Head of Manufacturing or you could become more specialised if you prefer.
This is a role where you will need to spend significant time on-site in our facility, with an element of flexible working hours.
The experience you’ll need to be effective
You must already be a senior engineer with experience working on low-volume/prototype automotive manufacturing processes. We’ll want to hear about the solutions you created to improve the manufacturing process.
You’ll need to be experienced in producing a range of documentation such as standard operating procedures, control plans, and work instructions right through to end-of-line testing.
We’ll want to hear about examples where your root cause analysis or quality controls you have implemented in the past and how it helped develop a better production process.
You must have good communication skills and have successful experience in delegating work and motivating manufacturing team members to drive quality in production.
Finally, we all have a strong sense of shared purpose around the OX mission. We’ll want to hear about why our mission resonates with you.
There are more than a few reasons to join us
We are making a positive impact on the world, reducing poverty, gender inequality and climate change.
We are a commercial business with a strong sense of purpose.
We offer hybrid working, with most staff spending 2 or 3 days per week in our office doing collaborative work.
We also offer flexible working practices so you can do the school run or pop to the dentists when you need to without stressing. Our teams track progress, not timesheets.
All staff receive share options so you share in our success.
Unlimited holiday (essentially if your team agree it, you can have it!)
